Datamosh Smear
A datamosh text effect: with the keyframe removed, the next shot's motion vectors drag the old picture, so the word melts into blocky color streaks. Then a clean frame snaps back. A staple of glitch music videos and edgy edits.
Prompt · replace [TEXT]
Tool-agnosticApply a datamosh effect to [TEXT]. Shot one: [TEXT] in a heavy grotesque, sunflower yellow with a black outline, over bold diagonal bands of teal, coral and navy, drifting slowly. Then remove the keyframe at the cut: instead of switching to shot two, keep the last picture and push its pixels with the next shot's motion vectors, block by block in a coarse macroblock grid, so the letters drag and melt into long streaks with hard seams between blocks, while shot two's edges surface in the old colors. More and more of its square blocks pop through until, after about two seconds, a clean frame of shot two (same word, cyan on magenta and violet bands) snaps in. Hold it, then mosh back with an outward bloom from the center. Choppy 30 fps; loop every 8 seconds.
Visual DNA
- Blocky macroblocks sliding independently, tearing at their seams
- Old pixels smeared along motion vectors into long color streaks
- Missing keyframe: two shots melt into each other instead of cutting
- The new shot's edges surfacing in the old colors, its blocks popping through
- Clean frame snaps back and the cycle restarts
